Our Home

I thought I’d start a page about our little home!  It’s a work-in-progress but it is slowly becoming “us”.  A little back-story; it belonged to one of our dear friends, Ms. M, who is now in her 90’s and has to live in our community nursing home; she didn’t want the house to stay empty…and we just love it to pieces!  My parents have taken care of Ms. M. for years; they live one house away, so this set-up was absolutely ideal.

My dad took this picture; I just adore it.  My mom is walking in the front door and Ryan is there to greet her; I love their little blurs.

You walk right into the porch; it’s one of my favorite spaces!

A more in depth look and the before and afters can be found here.

The porch leads to the entryway above; it’s the first space I finished in it’s entirety.

More on the entryway before and afters found here!

Dining Room is DONE.  Almost. 🙂

Before and After’s here.

The kitchen hasn’t been touched, but here is what I hope for…

The rest of the house; it’s a work in progress.  I’ve completed things…and now am in the process of revamping; story of my life!

It’s no secret that I’ve struggled with the concept of bettering our home; do I leave well enough alone (a’la 70’s decor) or do I put my money and energies into making a place we love?  Is that the wisest use of our funds?  I’ve finally come to the conclusion that having a haven, a comfortable place for my family, is important…it’s just a matter of priorities.  God first, as well as giving as Jesus would lead us to give is absolutely priority.  After that, being thrifty, staying out of debt, and diy’ing as much as possible is what suits our family.  It’s something that brings me great joy!

  1. Wonderful! I love to see other houses undergo transformations 🙂 We’ve got a long way to go on ours before it looks as put together as yours does! I love the front porch, so adorable 🙂

  2. Your home is beautiful and so very inviting. I love all the touches you’ve added. Thank you so much for the sweet comment you left me this morning. It made my morning 🙂

  3. Your home is beautiful! So bright and welcoming and happy looking. I adore your porch!

  4. Thanks so much for sharing this! You have a beautiful home! I have wrestled with the same issue (is it worth my time and effort decorating this old house when it might not ever really be “me”?). I came to the same conclusion as you..I figure our homes are one of the greatest blessings (apart from my family) we’ve been given, so why shouldn’t we give them lots of love and attention?!

I’ve been afraid to do any room pics, since I don’t feel ready to do a full “house” tour…but it’s nice to see that someone else is posting rooms as they are finished. 🙂

  5. Wow! I love of your decorations! You are super talented!
